Gijinka Creation
Long ago, when humans and Pokémon lived in closer harmony, there was a time of profound mystical connections between the two. The Legendary Pokémon, who governed different aspects of the world, observed humanity’s admiration for Pokémon and saw the potential in their unity. Some believed that by blending the strengths of both, a new kind of being could emerge—one that combined the intelligence, creativity, and adaptability of humans with the power, instincts, and elemental abilities of Pokémon.
Among these Legendary Pokémon, Arceus, the creator of all things, laid down a divine law that no such union could occur unless blessed by a Legendary Pokémon. To ensure the balance of nature was maintained, only a union blessed by one of these sacred beings would have the divine right to bring forth a Gijinka—a child born from the blending of human and Pokémon spirits.
The Divine Blessing
Each Gijinka was thus born only after the involvement of a Legendary Pokémon, whose blessing was more than a ceremonial act—it was an infusion of the Pokémon's divine power, making each Gijinka unique. For instance:
Lugia's blessing might give the Gijinka abilities related to air and water.
Giratina's blessing could create Gijinka with ties to the shadow realm and alternate dimensions.
Zygarde's blessing would result in Gijinka meant to maintain balance and order.
The Gijinka were rare and revered in the early days. They acted as mediators between humans and Pokémon, maintaining harmony in the world. Each Gijinka bore the mark of their Legendary patron, symbolizing their unique powers and connection to the divine.
The Fall: Human Hatred Toward Gijinka
As generations passed, the rarity and uniqueness of the Gijinka became a source of envy and fear. While the Gijinka's powers made them formidable, it also made them different, and humanity began to fear what they could not control. This fear was fueled by the corruptive whispers of certain factions of humans who saw Gijinka as an unnatural affront to the natural order. They believed that humans should remain separate from Pokémon and that blending the two was a violation of sacred boundaries.
A particular event, known as the "Day of the Broken Oath", ignited the hatred. In this legend, a Gijinka blessed by Darkrai went rogue. This individual, born with the ability to manipulate nightmares, was said to have caused a great disaster, plunging an entire kingdom into an endless nightmare. Though it was later discovered that the Gijinka had been manipulated by a malevolent force, this incident solidified the belief that Gijinka were dangerous and unpredictable. They were seen as cursed beings, carrying the potential to bring ruin.
In time, humans grew resentful of the Gijinka's abilities and their close relationship with the Legendary Pokémon, who they believed favored the Gijinka over them. This resentment turned into hatred, and Gijinka became outcasts, hunted and scorned by society. Many were forced into hiding, while others were captured and exploited for their powers.
Legends and Laws were written, forbidding further unions between humans and Pokémon, claiming that any new Gijinka would bring calamity upon the world. The once-sacred blessing of the Legendary Pokémon was now considered a curse, and humanity turned its back on these hybrid beings, fearing their power and distrusting their existence.
Arceus found that Gijinka were afraid of their human brethren, and founded a new land for them to live in: a region known as the Aramis Region. Gijinka flocked to the region, bringing with them only humans that believed Gijinka were good.
Now, Gijinka live in the Aramis Region, some still loyal to their Pokémon heritage, while others harbor resentment toward the very humans they were once meant to unite.
The Creation of Lab-Created Gijinka
In recent years, a strange group known only as the Zync Syndicate, has been making itself known in the Aramis Region. They have managed to re-create the "blessings" of the Legendary Pokemon by infusing some of their power into test-tube babies made with the dna of pokemon and humans, creating Lab-created Gijinka. Not much is known about these kind of Gijinka currently.
